Summary

Jack McKee is a doctor that seems to have it all.  He is successful, rich, has a nice famly and seems to have no problems.  Then he gets diagnosed with throat cancer.  He goes through some of the grieving stages.  Jack denies that it is happening to him.  He gets angry with himself and others around him.  He did not seem to bargin with God or anyone else.  He goes through depression and gets frustrated.  He also lacks control.  Jack finally accepts what is going on and becomes more understanding.

While he is going through all of this he gets to see the other side of things.  He sees medicine, hospitals, and doctors from a patient's perspective, he realises that there is more to being a doctor than surgery and prescriptions.  His attitude changes completely from the beginning of the movie to the end.  He started out as an arrogant doctor that does not seem to care about his patients to understanding what they are going through and becomes more caresmatic towards his patients.
